By using modern frequency converters, the drive technology becomes more and more energy efficient. Due to the frequency converters, these powerful controllers produce strong electrical noise on the motor cable that adversely affect the engine and other consumers.

To ensure reliable and durable operation of all drive components, the electrical noise must be reduced as far as possible. Basically, many different factors such as volage rise (dv / dt), fault and surge currents, EMC behavior, harmonics, etc. must be observed.

Targeted measurements and perfectly matched products

Since these physical effects often occur in combination, targeted and well-coordinated measurements additional components are important. For the most diverse applications REO always offers the best electronic, inductive and resistive components.

Line chokes, EMC filter, DC reactors, chokes or sinusoidal and dv / dt filters are just a few examples of products, by which REO guarantees a safe and trouble-free operation in drive technology.

  • CNW 933

    Three-phase sinusoidal filter

    CNW 933
    • Nominal Voltage: 500 V
    • Rated current: 2 - 1200 A
    • Inductance per strand: 0,05 - 25 mH

    Sinusoidal output current - save costs and trouble-free operation.


    For particularly long cable lengths of > 100m between inverter and motor the shielded cable for EMI suppression used can cause a capacitive coupling. A conventional motor choke can not provide sufficient damping in such cases.


    The sinusoidal filter is a low pass from inductance and capacitance and has a very low resonance frequency. So it is able to generate a largely sinusoidal current. The operation and the loss balance of the asynchronous motor behave like the normal mains operation. The typical motor noise with converter do not occur and a shielded cable to the motor can be dispensed. Losses and heating are greatly minimized and the leakage current will be reduced. Longer motor cable lengths are possible. The motor insulation is protected, thus increasing the service life.


    The sinusoidal filter also attenuates the conducted interference in lower frequency range very good. The losses and the typical noise in the motor plate can be reduced.

  • CNW MD 953

    Water-cooled three-phase mains choke 8% Uk

    CNW MD 953
    • Nominal Voltage: 400 V
    • Rated current: 200 - 1200 A
    • Inductance: 0,012 - 0,074 mH

    Power Noise Reduction - save energy costs. The water-cooled power / filter choke CNW MD 953 series has been specially developed for smoothing flows in regenerative converters. By efficiently cooling the power losses is dissipated up to 80% by cooling and reduces heating of switching cabinets. The CNW MD 953 is also suitable for use as a filter choke in LCL filters.


    By using a mains choke the inverter electronics and DC-capacitors will be protected.


    Starting currents and current peaks are reduced up to 60%. Mains chokes helps to comply with international power quality standards IEEE 519 or EN 61000-3-2.

  • REOHM BW 151

    Braking resistor, max. continous power: 300 W

    BW 156
    • Resistance values: 1,1 - 2000 Ohm
    • Continuous power: 50 - 300 W
    • max. operating voltage: 900 V

    The braking resistor BW 151 is short-circuit proof and has a very good heat dissipation. Braking resitors of REO protect the machine from a voltage rise in the intermediate circuit. They are available as a braking resistor (BW Series) or as a charging resistor  (Series R).

    The profile resistors REOhm 151 are also UL-certified and have a power of 50 W up to 30 W (also as combination).

    The charging resistor R 151 is a current limiting resistor for the charging and discharging of capacitors and limitates for example the current flowing into the intermediate circuit capacitor inrush current.They are available as a braking resistor (BW Series) or as a charging resistor  (Series R).

  • Series WKO

    Closed loop current transformers

    Series WKO
    • Primary rated current: 25 - 2000 A
    • Frequency range: 100000 - 200000 Hz

    WKO current sensors work in accordance with the proven compensation principle and are suitable for measuring direct, alternating and mixed currents.


    The primary current generates a magnetic flux, which is compensated by an internal secondary coil. The current is evaluated by an electronic circuit and a Hall sensor. The secondary compensating current is a precise representation of the primary current to be measured.
