Description


REO PLC filters are successfully where there is radio frequency disturbances in Powerline Communication (PLC) applications where signals are used to control smart meters in smart grids or devices such as street lighting, storage heating or tariff switching.


The high frequency signal in the grid can cause disturbances in modern devices leading to problems such as:


• Background noises on radios
• Interferences to television reception
• Flickering lights
• Slow WIFI and LAN performance


These communication methods can easily be installed and are very cost-effective as they used the existing grid infrastructure. Safety aspects and high immunity to interference are of importance.
The PLC-filter helps to block unwanted noise and ensure safe and correct Powerline Communication (PLC).
Interference is prevented from spreading via the network which otherwise might have an impact on connected loads e.g. LED lighting etc.
Unshielded networks (grids) behave like antennas and which increase the emission of RF signals.
The maximum noise level of lines used for telecommunication purposes is clearly defined by the EC Directive 89/336/ECC. REO PLC filters help to comply with this standard and to reduce the noise level to a minimum.
