No line-conducted interferences due to the EMC filter

EMC filters are used for suppressing line-conducted interferences.

The spreading is prevented by a maximum level of impedance mismatch. The filtering effect extends in both directions. This means that both the interference from the consumer to the network and the interference from the network to the consumer are suppressed.

    The PLC filters CNW 163 eliminate interference in applications in grids with ripple control technology or Powerline Communication (PLC).
    Due to the high-frequency PLC signal in the supply grid, interferences can occur in connected equipment. These interferences can lead to the following negative impacts:



    • Interference noise on the radio
    • Interference on televisions
    • Flickering lights
    • Slow network over mains



    Due to the additional use of the existing mains network, these transmission processes can be quickly and cost-effectively implemented.
    Of particular importance are the safety aspects and the resistance to interference.
    With the PLC filter, the signals of the ripple control and/or the Powerline Communication (PLC) can be filtered and blocked. The interfering signals are prevented from unwanted signal propagation. Due to PLC signals, electrical consumers such as LED lighting can experience interference.
    Furthermore, unshielded power cables behave like antennas and lead to increased emission of signals.
    The maximum interference level of cables that are used for telecommunication purposes is clearly defined by the provisions of use of the EC directive 89/336/EEC.
    REO PLC filters help to remain in compliance with EC directive 89/336/EEC and to reduce the interference level to a minimum.

    The 3-phase PLC filter CNW 164 is designed for use in grids with Powerline Communication (PLC = transferring data via the mains network).
    In Powerline Communication, data in the form of high-frequency signals is superimposed onto the line frequency of 50/60 Hz in the supply grid.
    The ripple control signal between EVU and the home power grid is monitored by smart meters.



    This signal is also transmitted into the home power grid, which can lead to electronic consumers experiencing interference.
    This interference can lead to the following negative impacts:


    • Interference noise on the radio
    • Interference on the TV
    • Flickering lights
    • Slow network over mains



    Unshielded power lines behave like antennas and emit these as unwanted interference into the environment.
    The CNW 164 is suited for consolidated elimination of interference in the home power grid.
    The product design allow horizontal or upright mounting.



    Thanks to the easy and quick installation, this line filter is ready for operation in minimal time.
    The CNW 164 is also available for home power grids up to 25 A.
    The PLC filter satisfies EC directive 89/336/EEC.
    The maximum interference level of cables used for telecommunication purposes is clearly defined in this directive and helps to reduce the interference to a minimum.
